VIENA SKATĪTĀJA APMEKLĒJUMS / ONE SPECTATORS'S VISIT
with Reinis Dzudzilo
"When the idea of the exposition had already been conceived, as an acknowledgement for it came the fragment of a book by Huston Smith published in the January edition of the Rīgas Laiks magazine, where he wrote: 'Possibly I needed to go through ninety years of life to understand how life itself is a path.' The aim of this quotation is not to illustrate the exhibition or vice versa – for the exhibition to illustrate the quotation. The idea of the show was born out of the visits to this particular place – Arsenāls – where reaching the Creative Studio exhibition hall always takes place on the vertical, moving upward. This movement is accompanied by an increased heart rate. And that is one of the preconditions for experiencing something – an increased heart rate is needed."
